DesignLights Consortium® Updates to Testing Requirements for DC/PoE Luminaires

In order to simplify policy and reduce the amount of testing required of manufacturers, the DLC has revised the Testing and Reporting Requirements for DC and PoE Products

Effective, August 15, 2019

Key Takeaways:

  • Products must only be tested at one voltage instead of two.
  • Non-PoE-based DC products must be tested at the voltage that results in the worst-case efficacy, the same as with traditional AC products.

  • PoE-based DC products must be tested specifically at 45V, or optionally tested at the minimum PD voltage for the specific Type and Class of the product according to the IEEE 802.3 standard.
